CrossFire Beilstein
Multiple perspectives in one overview

Now featuring over 10 Million Reactions and over 10 Million Compounds
The CrossFire Beilstein database is the world's largest compilation of chemical facts. As the cornerstone database to organic chemistry, the CrossFire Beilstein database is essential for generating new leads, planning synthetic routes (including starting materials and intermediates), determining bioactivity and physical properties and ascertaining the environmental fates of compounds.
CrossFire Beilstein indexes three primary data domains: substances, reactions and literature. The substance domain stores structural information with all associated facts and literature references, including chemical, physical and bioactivity data. The reaction domain details the preparation of substances, enabling scientists to investigate specific reaction pathways with reaction search queries. The literature domain includes citations, titles and abstracts, which are hyperlinked to the substance and reaction domain entries.
CrossFire Beilstein provides information on a compound or reaction collated from different publications into a single record. In these records, the more than 320 million experimental data (facts) do not only provide an overview of the properties of a compound or different conditions for a reaction, they can also be exported to review, compare or share data and tables with colleagues.
With the second update in 2006, the 10 millionth reaction in CrossFire Beilstein has been released. Passing this important milestone emphasizes the enduring and increasing value of the database as the essential first step in chemical discovery. Since 2005, the increased productivity to index data into Beilstein has lead to an earlier than expected time to reach this number.
With the third update in 2007, 10 million compounds have been exceeded. CrossFire Beilstein is the only Database with over 10 Million Compounds, that all have experimental property and ID data.
CrossFire Beilstein offers scientists comprehensive detail, fast search speeds and high-quality data indexed from over 175 journals (PDF: 226 KB).

Many ways to access CrossFire Beilstein
The substances and reactions in CrossFire Beilstein can be searched in multiple ways; the most popular way is by drawing chemical structures or reactions (using exact structure or substructure searches) to access the data.
The experimental data enables you to fine-tune your questions, ensuring a focus on the information that is relevant for your research topic. Moreover, the data enables searches without chemical structures, using chemical names for example, and you can also identify a substance by the physical properties measured in the laboratory.
The Beilstein database is updated quarterly and can be hosted for use at your organization's site or accessed via the following services:
CrossFire Direct:

Customers can access the Beilstein database via the Internet using CrossFire Direct. The application interface to access the Beilstein database in this way is CrossFire Commander. (Version 7.0, available for Microsoft® Windows.)
DiscoveryGate:

CrossFire Beilstein is also available from DiscoveryGate, a comprehensive online cheminformatics discovery online service offered by Symyx . Customers may choose to access the Beilstein data through DiscoveryGate via either the Database Browser application, or CrossFire Commander interface, depending upon their service agreement.
Third party online services:
